Thin delicate branches of crystals grow into soft cotton like plant structures in the Organic Crystals series. In this installation series, we look into the concept of organic and inorganic, as well as life and non-life.

Crystals can be created in different ways – mostly from minerals and inorganic substances.

Organic Crystals

In the Organic Crystals series, we use organic materials and allow the crystals to grow freely in an open air environment. The liquid solution gradually turns into crystallized structures. Like a field of moss growing from a lake. It eventually turns into a forest or a landscape, as if to show the stages of earth’s evolution.

In some installations we allow the crystals to grow on man-made structures and objects. The crystals take over the lifeless objects. They flourish and eventually diminish. The transition shows the delicate balance between nature and mankind.
