The fusion of science and art opens doors to possibilities beyond our imagination

In Lab +1e, we create installations that integrate art and science. The beauty of the scientific principles that surround us is timeless, limitless, and filled with inspiration. We believe that our research and collaborative projects can drive breakthrough in both art and science. Join us at our exhibitions, talks, and workshops around the world.

Art + Science

Why should we integrate art and science?

The Concept – For the further advancement of humanity

Human civilization has evolved greatly in the last few centuries. Space stations are now orbiting around the Earth and artificial intelligence allows computers to learn on their own. In this technology-saturated society, what do we need in order for humanity to advance even further?

True creativity

Creativity is humanity’s greatest weapon. We have the ability to envision the future and make them come true. In every breakthrough in human history, truly creative ideas have changed the world.

In the 20th century, the theory of relativity revolutionized the field of science. Albert Einstein has always emphasized the importance of imagination, stating that “the greatest scientists are artists as well.”

During the industrial revolution in the 19th century, innovative artists such as the impressionists have incorporated optic and color theories studied by the leading physicists and chemists of their time.

In the 16th century, at the height of the Renaissance, Leonardo Da Vinci conducted multidisciplinary research across art, architecture, mathematics, engineering, anatomy, and botany, creating truly creative solutions, technologies, and works of art.

Behind every great revolution, there were new ideas that transcended conventional boundaries. We need to break free from the constraints of these boundaries and allow ourselves to be inspired by the infinite possibilities that surround us.

In modern day society, our skills and jobs have become so segmentalized that various disciplines including art and science are considered as completely different fields. However, when we want to create something that is first of a kind or to effectively solve difficult problems, we must overcome these walls and think outside the box.

Inspiring art with science and science with art

In Lab +1e, we create installations that integrate art and science. You can visit our exhibitions and events to experience the latest installations.

Our main focus is on the timeless principles of nature and the universe that have existed before mankind and will continue to exist after our time. Because that is where we find something truly beautiful, far beyond our imagination.

I’ve always loved art, nature and animals since I was very little. On the weekends, my family would explore the city of New York filled with art. The museums, musicals, and the city itself are still my inspirations as of today. I studied chemistry and biology in college and was fascinated by the beauty of natural and scientific forms and phenomena. Now I’m combining these inspirations to create a new integrated world of art and science.

The world is filled with inspiration. We provide workshops for kids to nurture and develop true creativity at an early age. There are also a lot of interactions between adults at our exhibitions. New ideas and questions are discussed. Everyone’s eyes twinkle just like the kids. We humans have a deeply curious nature, so if we just open our minds widely, inspirations can be found everywhere, not just in art and science, but in everyday life.

Our lab will continue to explore the new field of art and science to further expand the possibility of true creativity. Our mission is to contribute to the advancement of humanity through the integration of art and science.
